The Proper Use for a Two Way Valve

When it comes to our water home or business’ water, there are very few things that you can improvise. They may be different types of faucets, but they all have the same basic job. We may have different types of pipes, whether copper or PVC, but their function is the same. It never changes. They are the lines that take water from here to there. The tricky part often comes in with the valves. Valves usually have a knob that you turn to allow water to flow. The question is, do you know the proper use for a two way valve specifically?
Most people never consider what their home’s faucets or valves are. We either go to the faucet and turn it on or off. We speed up the flow by turning it further and vice versa. You may even think that all are two-way type valves since they are either on or off. Your kitchen faucet is going to generally be a ball valve. You turn it a little and water starts to come out. Turn it a little more and it flows more freely.
There are two-way ball valves, but typically the two-way types will have a different purpose. Their purpose is either fully on or fully off. They are not designed to be used daily. In fact, you may only touch the two way if you have a leak somewhere that you need to repair.
You may also have three-way valves under your home. Three ways allow you to divert water from one area to the other as needed by you. Let’s say you have a shed outdoors that sometimes requires you to have water. Perhaps it is a sink where you wash your fresh vegetables that are grown in your garden. It could be where your laundry room is if you do not have it in your home. In either case, you will not always need water on in that area. Therefore, off your main water line, you may have the three-way. This allows water to always go into your home, and sometimes go into your shed.
A two way valve is most often found on main water lines. They may also be near hot water heaters, toilets, and under sinks so that you maintain control of the water in that area. You can choose if the home, the kitchen, the bathroom, or anywhere else has full water or no water.
